It Began as an Internal Problem
ASTITVAAMS was built at EncureIT Systems, where our engineers kept running into the same thing on client projects. The finance system knew what an asset was worth. Nobody could tell you where it was, who had it, or when it was last serviced.
The people asking hardest were the ones facing an audit. A spreadsheet cannot prove a machine exists, and an ERP module was never built to be used by a technician standing in front of one. So we built the piece that was missing rather than another accounting tool.
What we ended up with works the same way for a factory, a hospital and a government department. Tag the item, scan it to find it, and let the record build itself as people do their jobs.
Vision
That asking where an asset is, what it cost and who is responsible for it should take a few seconds, not a few weeks and three phone calls.

Give every asset a tag and a record, make both usable from a phone on the shop floor, and keep the whole thing honest enough to show an auditor.
